USB Bridge Prevails In Claim Construction

On April 17, 2020, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, issued a claim construction order in USB Bridge Solutions, LLC v. Buffalo et al. and Avant Technology, Inc. (C.A. Nos. 1:17-cv-1158/1159).  Defendants had argued that all claims of U.S. Patent No. 7,231,485 (the “’485 Patent”) were invalid as indefinite and were limited to parallel ATA signals, while USB Bridge argued that the ’485 Patent covered the newer SATA technology.  The Court held that 11 of 12 claim terms challenged by the Defendants were not indefinite, with four of five independent claims surviving the challenge.  The Court also rejected arguments by Defendants that the claims of the ’485 Patent were limited to parallel ATA signals.  Following this claim construction ruling, the Court set a scheduling conference.

USB Bridge Solutions, LLC is represented by Kheyfits Belenky LLP.
